Changes to Employment Law in 2017

Personnel Today always publish a useful round up of upcoming employment law changes – so here’s the heads up for 2017.

To be honest many of those anticipated changes won’t have a significant impact on your small business but there are a few you should be aware of,  in particular:

  • There will be a need to audit employee personal data that you collect and process to ensure it meets the new General Data Protection Regulations – we’ll be doing more research into this & letting our clients know more so they can prepare before the compliance date in May 2018
  • There will be restrictions on some salary sacrifice schemes although pensions and childcare will not be affected
  • National Minimum Wage changes that used to happen in October each year are being aligned with the other statutory payment rates (eg SPP & maternity pay) change date of 1 April each year starting April 2017

The full article contains a few more and we will of course keep you updated throughout the year when anything else changes
