A Tribunal Fees Judicial Review is to be heard later in October – Unison have been granted permission to bring new proceedings that challenge the lawfulness of the Government’s introduction of tribunal fees last year.Unison argue that the introduction of fees has denied employees justice & the right to have their case heard & be awarded the recompense they are due.In contrast many believe that the fees system has all but eradicated spurious & vexatious claims by employees who were “trying their luck”.

Personnel Today report the view that even if Unison are successful, it is unlikely that fees will be abolished all together, and quote concerns from solicitors who query what will happen in cases where people have been denied justice to date because they couldn’t pay the fees.
