Penalties for Exclusivity Clauses in Zero Hours Contacts came into force 11 January 2016.

Zero hours contracts can no longer contain exclusivity clauses that forbid employees working for another employer; this was prohibited in May 2015 but there was no penalty for an employer who didn’t adhere to this.

With effect from 11 January 2016, employees can now bring a claim to an employment tribunal.
