Employee of the future Amelia?

The latest development in artificial intelligence from American firm IPSoft is going to streamline everyday business tasks by automating laborious and boring work functions such as processing financial transactions, according to reports from Techweek Europe.

Sounds ok we thought…

Apparently Amelia is also capable of manning helpdesks which she can do in 20 languages! Are we all really ready for an automated helpdesk service when our PC crashes and what we really need is the reassuring voice of the IT Department asking you to “turn it off and back on again” before reluctantly agreeing to leave their laptop graveyard caves to come to your desk & “have a look”?! We’re not sure!

For technophobes who have yet to fully grasp control of the Apple TV, the surround sound and the internet based on demand TV services, synching with the ipad & the Amazon account this all sounds a step too far to us!

However we are of course reassured by the closing line in this article that tells us that “managed services offerings leveraging autonomics and cognitive platforms will drive a 60% reduction in the cost of services”
